When the Waiting Ends
Lord, give me today’s direction. I don’t need tomorrow’s entire map. Show me what You want me to know today, what You want me to do today, and where You are working in me today.
Morning Whispers with Holy Spirit – Companion, Friend, and Helper - When the Waiting Ends
It was 12:30 a.m. when I woke up.
Wide awake.
I lay there in the dark for a while.
The house was quiet. Frankie was settled at the foot of the bed.
Eventually, I turned on the light.
“Good morning, Holy Spirit.”
“Abba, where are You working in me today? What do You want me to know?”
Daughter, we have reached the end of a period of waiting.
I went still.
“The waiting is over?”
Come to Me and learn from Me.
“What do You want me to learn?”
Come to Me first. The Kingdom first.
“You first.”
Yes.
“Before what I’ve been waiting for.”
Yes.
“Before the new thing. Before the open door. Before any of it.”
Me first.
I let that settle.
“Ask and keep asking. Seek and keep seeking. Knock and keep knocking.”
Yes.
“So the waiting may be over, but I’m still seeking.”
Me.
I smiled.
“You.”
Yes.
“Not just what You’re going to do.”
No.
“You.”
Me.
I stayed there with that.
There was something almost funny about it.
He had just told me something I had waited a long time to hear, and instead of telling me what was coming next, He was drawing me closer.
“I want Your face before Your hand.”
Then seek Me first.
“What about the things I need?”
I already know what you need.
I breathed out slowly.
“So I don’t have to make any of this happen.”
No.
“The provision?”
Mine.
“The harvest?”
Mine.
“The doors?”
Mine.
“And my part?”
Follow Me.
That quieted something in me.
“The ram was already there.”
Yes.
“Abraham couldn’t see it when he started climbing.”
No.
“But You had already provided.”
Yes.
“He obeyed before he saw it.”
Yes.
“So I don’t need to see how You’re going to provide before I move.”
No.
“I need to hear You.”
Yes.
“And Isaac?”
He stayed.
“Even when leaving made more sense.”
Yes.
“He sowed where You told him to stay.”
Yes.
“And You gave him the harvest there.”
I did.
“So I follow You. You handle the harvest.”
Yes.
That felt lighter.
Not because I suddenly knew what was coming.
I didn’t.
But I didn’t need to make anything happen either.
“Abba, show me what You want me to do today. Show me where You want me to go.”
“What is Your will for me today?”
Daughter, beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
I paused.
“That’s not what I expected You to say.”
You will recognize them by their fruit.
“Their fruit.”
Yes.
“Holy Spirit, give me discernment.”
Stay close.
“There are so many voices.”
I know.
“And some of them sound like You.”
Look at the fruit.
“What if they’re saying something that sounds like what You’ve already told me?”
Look at the fruit.
I swallowed.
“Even confirmation needs discernment.”
Yes.
That landed.
Because hearing something I want to hear doesn’t make it His voice.
“Holy Spirit, be loud when You’re warning me.”
Know My voice.
“Make Your warning unmistakable.”
Stay close to Me.
I was quiet.
There it was again.
“You.”
Yes.
I smiled.
“You really are keeping this simple.”
Come to Me.
“The waiting ends—come to You.”
Yes.
“Provision—follow You.”
Yes.
“Harvest—follow You.”
Yes.
“Discernment—stay close to You.”
Yes.
“And today?”
Walk with Me.
I breathed that in.
Not the whole plan.
Not everything that comes after the waiting.
Today.
“Okay.”
The waiting had reached its end.
And I didn't need to run.
I just needed to stay close enough to hear the next thing He said.
